Fear Of Public Speaking DefinedFear of public speaking, also known as glossophobia, stage fright and performance anxiety, is perhaps the world's most common fear. In surveys of people's top fears it is almost always in the top 3 or 4 fears. (In a February 2001 survey fear of snakes was mentioned more often as American's top fear, public speaking was second.)
Several talented and successful actors, entertainers and musicians have the fear of publicly performing, including Barbra Streisand, Dusty Springfield and Charlize Theron.
